The NCA's Programme of Work

The NCA harnesses and uses the collective knowledge and experience of cancer patients and health professionals to influence and inform the development and improvement of cancer services in the UK to achieve our vision of equality and high standards of care.

The NCA identifies, defines and raises awareness of key issues in cancer services, engaging with partners and decision-makers to influence change.  The NCA works with key partners in the pursuit of our programme objectives, including within the voluntary sector, the media, NHS organisations, government, industry and academia. These objectives fall under four key themes critical to the development of UK cancer services:

  1. Cancer Resources: the right amount, spent wisely
  2. National Standards of Care: consistent, high quality and accessible to all
  3. Patient experience: communication, information and support and choice
  4. User Involvement: patients and carers involved in getting things changed

We aim to achieve our objective through a range of core activities and specific projects. For more information on our Teamwork Project and our published reports, including how you can support these activities, please contact the NCA
